Such were the grounds for divorce I know

Classes have begun.

My schedule hasn't sorted itself out yet, but I think I'll be happy whichever shoe happens to drop. I don't think that is the correct use of that idiom, but I'll go with it anyways. My Independence and West African art class looks fantastic and it seems to deal with a lot of the same themes and problems that Brazilian Modernisms unpacked. The rebound from colonialism seems to affect each country a bit differently and it is very interesting to see how nationalism and identity form after the fall.

I think I'm going to be able to get away with not really buying any more books this term.

My mom took me birthday shopping the other day. She is a fantastic woman, my mother. I love her to pieces. Mom, Gram, Papa, Mattison, and I will be going out on Friday for my birthday. I'm really excited to see my grandparents. I'm less excited for next Thursday, where my father will be coming out to see me for my birthday. Luckily, Mattison is willing to come along and suffer with me. I don't think I could have done it alone.

In good news, I quit my job at St. Thomas and will be the Partins' nanny starting next Monday. The whole first week of work sucked and I'm sick of spending 90% of my energy on kids who drive me absolutely crazy and not getting to spend time with the kids who are attentive and interesting. I'll be sad to leave a few of them, but for the most part it will be better. I love the three boys, it'll be much more flexible since I'll be able to do work at their house, and the pay is significantly better. It's a no brainer.

Life is good though. It's a plus ten.

Oh! and Ms.Rohde is coming to dinner between 6:30 and 7:00 on Sept. 22nd. I am all sorts of woohoo excited!
